Description
Award winning, heirloom quality Half doll Sewing Cozy! A fantastic German half doll antique reproduction with lace draped sleeves and collar. Original antique half dolls were made to be used in a utilitarian manner; a tea cozy, a pin cushion, a lampshade, etc.. This half doll is a porcelain figurine consisting of the top half of a lady which is sewn to a wire-framed hollow skirt which forms a 'cozy' that fits over a wood base of sewing tools; a goldplated scissors, an antique 14kt gold thimble, a German antique reproduction porcelain rabbit pincushion, silk thread, and 2 German reproduction figurines.
The half doll is costumed with batiste and lace underslip, striped silk skirt, a flounce of imported Swiss embroidered lace, vintage woven metallic gold overlay handbeaded with simulated seed pearls and trimmed with silk roses and leaves. The back of the doll is adorned with a wide silk ribbon bow over a silk tasseled bustle that lifts to exhibit a felted needle safe. The half doll is glazed and painted with 22kt gold trim on the edge of the hand applied lace drape. OOAK
